If you have broken, burned out or tangled strings of holiday lights, unwanted light strings, power cords and power strips, don't throw them into the trash. Often, then can be recycled! Beware that much of this type of information on other websites is very outdated. We've tried to include the most recent information below and updated it every year, right after Christmas, but since the people running the recycling programs often do not update their information, you've got to follow the links below and contact them to be certain the programs are still running. here are the methods to recycle your lights in order of easy and reliability:
Local Cities often have trash/recycling collection programs that also includes a recycling bin which allows for Christmas lights.
If you have a recycling bin, you can usually put lights in there, but be sure check with your provider!

HolidayLEDS (which is a brand of Christmas lights you've seen in the
stores) offers free a light recycling program. You can ship
lights to the company for recycling from October 1-February 28. All
you have to do is send them your old Christmas lights for recycling and
they'll send you a coupon good for 15% off HolidayLEDs.com LED Christmas
lights. All coupons may only be redeemed once on a single order and may not
be used with with any other offer, discount or coupon. Exclusions apply. Not

over-sized shipping items.
How Should I Ship My Lights?
You can send
your lights via any shipping method you like. However, there is no reason to
send them express. We would recommend that you send them by the least
expensive method available.
Can I send Christmas lights to you any time?
Yes. The Christmas Light Recycling Program is open year round.
Once you have packed up and
shipped us your lights please complete our Christmas light recycling form
and we will email you your coupon as soon as we confirm shipment.

This program is active all year and we save all recycling
proceeds for this year's Toys for Tots donation.On top of helping children
in the DFW area, you can feel good knowing that your lights didn't end up
and a landfill and were appropriately recycled in the US.
Here's how you
can participate in our program to get your lights recycled, get a discount

1. Take your old, broken Christmas lights and box them up in the
smallest box that will accommodate the lights and send them to us in the

2. Please include your name and email
address (mandatory if you want the discount code - we won't save it or sell
it) and we'll email you a code that will be good for 10% off a single order
of Christmas lights (one rebate coupon per household).
3. Then we'll take
the lights, have them recycled and take the proceeds from the recycling and
use them to buy books, educational games, puzzles and toys!
4. These
items will then be donated to the DFW Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
Some retailers like Home Depot, Lowe's, and Walmart collect lights for a few weeks during the winter holidays. Check with your local store below:

LED Christmas lights use 80 percent less energy and can last up to 20 years. If you want to be able to replace individual lights, make sure to choose strings with removable bulbs; which is becoming more common in the LED light strings. .
